Every now and then we hear about horrific accidents involving large commercial trucks happening on our highways. Thankfully, this is not one of those occasions. This rollover could have resulted in death or serious injury to innocent drivers, but it didn’t because thankfully, there were no other vehicles next to this “big rig” as it overturned.
According to wtsp.com, the driver of the tractor-trailer, 39-year-old Michael Hall, was carrying about a dozen previously crushed cars on his truck and as he approached the ramp accessing I-275, he felt how the load behind him started to shift, making the cab of his truck roll until it overturned.
Looked Like An Accident With Much Loss of Life
The load of this truck, a dozen previously crushed junked vehicles, must have given those arriving first at the scene the impression that a horrific accident with a lot of injured people had just happened. Thankfully, as the trucker said, he was the only victim with a cut on his head for which he was treated at the scene.
Of course it is too early to say with any degree of certainty what actually happened as the investigation has just began. Yet, given our many years of experience handling commercial truck accident cases, we cannot help but wonder whether the truck in this case was properly loaded. Over the years, we have seen trucking companies overload their trucks, load them incorrectly, or not secure the loads properly, all in the name of profit. Of course, speed or driver fatigue may have also played a role in this crash. It would not be the first time we see greed propel tractor-trailer drivers to drive far more hours than they should until fatigue sets in and an accident happens.

If you or a loved one have been injured in an accident with a commercial truck, you should immediately contact a law firm experienced in handling these cases. Throughout the years, the Miami Dade County Truck Accidents Law Offices of Greenberg Stone and Urbano have represented many clients involved in traffic fatalities, traumatic brain injuries and serious personal injuries resulting from accidents with large commercial trucks.
For example, we recently represented a young lady that crashed her Honda Civic into the side of a tractor-trailer that made an improper U-turn in front of her on Okeechobee Road. The victim’s car was destroyed and she had to be cut out of the vehicle by rescue personnel. The young lady suffered multiple catastrophic injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. In a separate case, we currently represent the estate of a young man recently killed when the car he was a passenger in was literally run over by an eighteen-wheeler.
