Disney Bus involved in Accident With a Tractor Trailer in Orlando, Florida

February 21, 2011

A Disney bus collided with a tractor trailer last week while transporting guests back and forth to Orlando International Airport. As a result, five people (including the bus driver) were injured and had to be taken with non life threatening injuries to a local hospital.

Other Accidents With Large Motor Vehicles at Disney Parks

Accidents at these parks seem to be happening with some regularity...For example, late last year an elderly visitor from Massachusetts died after being struck by a bus. According to police, the victim, Robert Krueger, stepped in front of the bus at the Walt Disney World Resort. He was immediately taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. None of the passengers on the bus were injured. Similarly, in early 2010, a boy was struck and killed by a bus while riding his bicycle at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

Florida Truck Accident Kills Two, Injures Four Teens

December 9, 2010

Two young Floridians were killed early in the morning on December 9, 2010 when a tractor-trailer crashed into two parked cars in a northboound lane on US-27 in West Broward County, Florida. The truck accident left four other teenage passengers in serious condition. They were all rushed to Broward General Medical Center.

US-27, much like many of the countries interstate highways, sees a tremendous number of crashes involving semitrucks and tractor-trailers. The road runs north and south from Indiana to Florida and is one of the major trucking corridors for that part of the country.

Causes of Truck Accidents

While we do not yet know the full details on what happened in this truck accident, there are many common causes of truck crashes. Driver negligence, such as using excessive speed and making unsafe maneuvers, is just one possible cause. Driver fatigue, caused by drivers and companies who ignore the federal laws regarding service hours, is also a potential cause of a semitruck accident. Improperly overloading a trailer and failing to properly maintain a truck could similarly cause an accident.

Accident reconstructionists and trucking experts must be retained to examine the physical evidence of accident. Additionally, these experts will look through log books, qualification files and other company records to determine if a driver was fit to drive and what caused a truck accident. Event data recorders and other on-board computer systems also yield valuable information into how and why a truck accident took place.

Investigating a truck accident early is essential to properly litigating a truck accident case. For more information and a free consultation, contact the Florida Truck Accident Attorneys of Greenberg & Stone today.
